Maxie Mandel is a local singer-songwriter with an affinity for music and a passion for community outreach. After attending a World Cafe Live Bridge Session, Maxie was inspired to get involved, launching Maxie’s Hot Chocolate House 2017 as a part of her bat mitzvah project. Since then, all proceeds from the annual event have been donated to World Cafe Live’s music education programs.
Tickets to Maxie’s Hot Chocolate House in The Lounge on July 20th are available here.
Maxie says to expect great live music as there is a range of acts this year from some local Philly up-and-comers to seasoned favorites! She’s opening the show, with support from Skyler Love, Seraiah Nicole, Tabula Rasa, The Platform at Smooth Transition Band, and Emmanuel and the Perpetual Motion Band. The evening includes a performance from Kenny Whitehead singing his dad John Whitehead’s greatest hit: “Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now” by McFadden and Whitehead.
While reminiscing on past events Maxie shared:
“Up until this year, the hot chocolate house performers were limited to teens only. The amount of talent that I’ve seen from people my age has been unreal and always makes me really happy. I know that there are kids who have that level of talent in them, if not more, and if the money raised from this event can help bring a World Cafe Live Education Bridge Session to them, all that potential might be unleashed!”
Join us Wednesday, July 20th in the Lounge for tunes, chocolate, and a great cause!
