Support Music Futures: $15,000 Matching Challenge!

May 13, 2024

Thanks to many of you, over $22,000 has been raised this spring for WCL’s free music education programs serving Philadelphia public school students. We express our deepest appreciation to the returning donors who steadfastly support year after year, plus a special shout-out to the first-time donors who have recently joined our community. All of your support means the world to the young people who participate in our programs.

Now let’s kick it into high gear! With only a few weeks left in our Music Futures campaign, World Cafe Live’s Board of Directors is announcing a generous matching challenge. Members of the board will match every contribution, dollar for dollar, up to $15,000. This is your chance to double your impact and help reach our goal by May 31st!

Make a gift today to create more musical opportunities for Philly kids.

A message from Education Program Manager Briana Clarke:

Having established artists and musicians as educators creates a dynamic connection between students and the music world. Witnessing WCL Teaching Artists in the classrooms and then performing live during a Bridge Session or through social media, I think, ignites excitement among students and validates their experience. I love it when students pop their heads into workshops in session, linger after workshops to finish writing or recording, and when I overhear students reflect on their experience after Bridge Sessions. Our education programs intentionally and organically foster relationships, access, mentorship, activation, and resources, providing students with new experiences.

By providing opportunities for students to interact with professional artists and musicians in and beyond the classroom, we create gap-closing and transformative educational experiences that inspire them to pursue their musical ambitions. Seeing artists and students in action has been a reminder of the power of music to inspire and empower the next generation of artists. While not all students may aspire to pursue a career in music, I am happy that we ignite creativity and curiosity and bring moments of joy into their lives, which can make a lasting impact.
