Freire Charter Schools

When World Cafe Live hosted its inaugural Bridge Session in 2008, Freire Charter School was the very first school to attend. Now, World Cafe Live and Freire Charter Schools have the opportunity to deepen this 16+ year partnership with the generous lead support of the William Penn Foundation through their Creative Communities grant. Over the course of 18 months, WCL teaching artists will collaborate with 3 Freire Charter Schools to bring music education to over 1,000 Philly youth. Students from Freire High School, TECH Freire, and Freire Middle School will visit the venue for multiple Bridge Sessions as well as explore their creative capacity at school through music-making workshops focused on music production, songwriting, rhythm, music entrepreneurship, and music history.
