World Cafe Live is partnering with local movers & shakers REC Philly to bring you an evening of musical collaboration, inspiration, and networking hosted by Philly’s own Rae.Dianz. The first Tuesday of each month, we welcome performers from every genre to step up to the mic. Whether youʼre an artist, a supporter, an industry professional, or just a music lover – Philly Rising Open Mic is the place to be! Admission is FREE and all ages are welcome.

Performers will be selected by lottery throughout the evening. Please check in with the host beginning at 6pm to enter your name, walk-up submissions only. Each performer is allowed 2-3 songs, or a maximum of 10 minutes.

Philadelphia-based artist Rae.Dianz, pronounced radiance, is a multifaceted musician, emcee and visual artist with a personality that matches the name. Rae’s approach to performance and lyricism is often compared to Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill, although setting herself apart with being a flutist and a focus on mental health. Rae’s vocal tone, crowd control, engagement and overall positive demeanor makes every show feel personal and encapsulating. Rae’s versatile performance includes live jazz/r&b with live bands, rapping/emceeing with local djs, meditation/flute accompaniment and poetry. Regardless of the set, be prepared to have a great time.
Type A Minus (Sarah Zimmer) is a Philadelphia native who writes, performs and produces ambient folk music. Sometimes playing solo, and sometimes with her band (Vayda Good and Dani Disotelle), her music utilizes soundscapes to support her songwriting. A classically trained singer and actor during undergrad, Sarah transitioned to songwriting and recording in 2020. She received her Masters in Theatre Education for Community Engagement from Emerson College in 2019 and has been an educator ever since. Born from work she did in graduate school and battles with mental health and addiction, Type A Minus is a project built on the belief there is agency in reclaiming one’s own narrative. Notably, Type A Minus was recently featured on Weathervane Music’s (Miner Street Recordings) Open Sessions Project. She continues to be an active musician across the city and is currently working on a full-length album.
