New York’s Mike Savino, who performs as Tall Tall Trees, has garnered the attention of many through his fresh take on banjo-based folk music. His instrument of choice, the homemade Banjotron 5000, is played in combination with various effects and drumming techniques that result in Savino’s one-of-a-kind sound. He describes his influences as “all over the place” and explains that he can appreciate Katy Perry and Iron Maiden equally. This wide range of influence is evident on Tall Tall Trees’ most recent release, 2014’s The Seasonal EP, which takes the listener on a sonic journey from the dancey “Picture Picture” to the anthemic crescendos on “How Did It Get Dark So Fast” to the folk influence on the banjo driven “Say Something Real.” Tall Tall Trees will bring these experimental indie folk tunes to Philadelphia on August 5th!
