Celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month 2022 at WCL 🎶

Happy Jazz Appreciation Month! We love presenting a variety of jazz artists year-round, but this month is particularly special. Check out the lineup below for April.

Kevin Eubanks & Orrin Evans in PhiladelphiaEubanks Evans Experience with Kuf Knotz & Christine Elise
Fri. April 22, 8:00 PM – The Music Hall

The story of two musicians from the city of Brotherly Love, who decided to turn their personal conversations about life, strife, happiness and all that goes with it, into a journey of sound. Kevin Eubanks (guitar) & Orrin Evans (piano) bring a homegrown Philly sound to this new duo project with their debut album EEE: The Eubanks-Evans-Experience out now.

 

Emmanuel Ohemeng III & Perpetual Motion in The LoungeEmmanuel Ohemeng III & Perpetual Motion
Sat. April 23, 9:00 PM – The Lounge

Emmanuel Ohemeng III & Perpetual Motion consists of a trumpeter, a saxophonist, a trombonist, a pianist, bassist and a drummer. Although the band uses a traditional jazz instrumentation, Perpetual Motion combines the elements of trap, rock and R&B into its music.

 

Joe Kenney
Sun. April 24, 8:00 PM – The Lounge

Joe Kenney is a West Chester University alum and local pianist whose style blends classical music theory, jazz fusion, rock, soul, and hip-hop idioms. Joe has garnered praise for both his original compositions and cover arrangements.

 

Stephane Wrembel
Wed. April 27, 8:00 PM – The Lounge

Stephane Wrembel is one of the most highly regarded guitarists in the world specializing in the French gypsy jazz style of legendary composer/guitarist Django Reinhardt. His original compositions have been featured in Midnight in Paris among other films.

 

Lady Alma & Vertical Current
Thu. April 28, 8:00 PM – The Music Hall

The one and only Lady Alma will be accompanied by Philly’s own Vertical Current performing high energy Jazz-funk-soul fusion from her select catalogue. Vertical Current is an extraordinary international award-winning band with a history of complimenting Philadelphia’s musical royalty, such as The Roots, Jazmine Sullivan, John Legend, and Jill Scott.
