Philadelphiaʼs Disco Biscuits established a name for themselves in the live music space by cultivating their own “trance-fusion” genre, which is often characterized by futuristic sounds, fast flying notes, and club-thumping beats.. Images of their legendary concerts reveal packed audiences dancing under a sea of sound and lasers, while the band navigates the unknown, taking fans with them on long, improvisational journeys. But strip that away and youʼll find that their foundation is built on the fundamentals — great songs with evocative lyrics and addictive hooks. For the first time ever, Disco Biscuitsʼ Jon Gutwillig (guitar) and Aron Magner (keyboards) plan to bring it back down to those building blocks, showcasing these lived-in songs in a brand new setting as an acoustic duo. “Itʼs fascinating to interpret our catalogue in this way and to still find new and unique qualities to them” says Gutwillig after his first acoustic rehearsal with Magner, where they just had a guitar, a piano, and a set of songs that Disco Biscuits audiences know by heart.
