It’s that time of the year again! Our annual multi-day music festival Beta Hi-Fi is back and we’re gearing up to showcase some incredible musicians! Each summer we narrow down hundreds of submissions and provide up-and-coming artists the opportunity to perform in front of industry professionals and fans looking to discover new music. These handpicked artists will compete for cash and career-boosting prizes in front of a rotating panel of judges.
Our final lineup is composed of each previous night’s reigning champ – voted on by our panel of judges from the Philly scene. Over the span of four days, 9 artists will compete for a chance to win our grand prize package: a headlining show in The Lounge, $500 cash, rehearsal time with Repercussion Studios, 10 hours of recording time at Studio Crash, and an interview with Philth Media.
One of the following artists will have the fortune of joining the likes of past Beta Hi-Fi winners, including The Districts, Arthur Thomas & The Funkitorium, Commonwealth Choir, Mitamu, and more – who do you think it will be?
Honeychile
Under the stage name Honeychile, Becca Graham thrives at the intersection of classic and contemporary performance. Whether they’re embodying a hip hop emcee or a jazz diva, Honeychile evokes an “old soul” sound with “new school” genre-bending style reminiscent of musical giants past and present.
Neutral Ground
This alternative/indie group found each other as transplants new to the city. Each with their own influences, they came together to create something entirely unique from their own personal tastes.
Sci-Fi Godfather
A futuristic escape from love & paranoia–the melodic dream-pop flavors of Sci-Fi Godfather radiate through a surreal yet chaotic perspective. Through the lens of an eclectic and colorful sonic palette; singer, songwriter, & multi-instrumentalist Ryan Morro shares his personality & experiences as his mysterious alias.
Nervous Nikki and the Chill Pills
Nervous Nikki and the Chill Pills are a band led by drummer and vocalist Nicole Bauza. Sonically, they orbit in a unique asteroid belt of influences; a seldom seen place where rock and roll, hip hop, and folk music float together in unison.
IVRose & Staucy.B
These two artists hail from different parts of the city and aim to bring the best vibes. IVRose has been singing, performing and playing instruments since a child, while Staucy.B started his musical journey in 2019. No matter the timeline, these vibes are bound to be set with this duo.
Alyssa Garcia
This Philadelphia native lives by the mantra “music is the cure.” Alyssa’s original music is an outlet of understanding where she pours her heart out into soulful pop tracks, telling personal stories that offer comforting relatability.
Baldini and the Bastards
A performance from this Manayunk-born band will have you flying fast ‘round mountains and inside canyons before chopping you down and slowly guiding you through a silent dark forest or unknown cottonmouth desert, all within the chaotic on-edge comfort of a city row home, bar or music club–sometimes all three at once.
The Side Chicks
This unique bunch of folks from Philadelphia are known for their improvisational instrumentation, riffing, and ecstatic energy on stage. Each original song is an emotional and often relatable experience.
BEES!
This goofy, riffy rock band from Philadelphia features rhythms and melodies that make you feel like you’ve traveled through time and into a 90s arcade. Taking inspiration from The Presidents of the United States, Queens of the Stone Age, and music from Super Mario World, BEES! will certainly have you buzzing.
