Puerta Abierta is our new series centering and celebrating the diasporic sounds of Latinx culture. This summer, we’ll welcome artists across a variety of genres and regions to our stages for a mix of live music and educational events.
From May through August, we’ll host performances by emerging and established artists in both the Lounge and Music Hall. Each night will feature a unique food & drink menu from Executive Chef Rob Cottman influenced by specific Latinx culinary traditions. We’ll also bring in new teaching artists to develop and premiere a Bridge Session exploring Latinx music and culture, further expanding our free music education programs.
This week we unveiled the complete lineup for our new Puerta Abierta Summer Music Series with the addition of four *free* performances in the Lounge plus our final headliner, Cimafunk on August 19th! Learn more about each artist below.
Xenia Rubinos

Fri. May 27, 8:00 PM – The Music Hall
Visionary singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Xenia Rubinos uses her soulful voice to lead a genre-defying live band pulling from R&B to Hip-Hop to jazz influences, all delivered with a New York punk-funk abandon. Her second full-length album Black Terry Cat was released by ANTI- Records and garnered her wide critical acclaim. Rubinos is joined by Mexico-born, Brooklyn-based rapper Pieri whose new single ‘Vente Pa Aca’ is featured on New York Times’ new song playlist!
Thu. June 23, 8:00 PM – The Music Hall
Latinx neo-folclore artist Renee Goust (she/they) grew up on the US/Mexico border and writes bilingual songs about gender equality, the LGBTQIA+ experience, immigration, and other social justice issues. Co-headlining the show is Audry Funk, a Mexican singer, rapper, and immigrant living in the Bronx with more than 15 years of constant work in the Latin American hip-hop scene. These Mexican American singer-songwriters join forces on the neo-folk track “DIOSA.”

An encounter at an Asado in the Mataderos neighborhood of Buenos Aires led to the formation of the bandoneón-guitar duo Shinjoo Cho and Alejo de Los Reyes. Now based in Philadelphia and NY, El Sesenta brings to life the intimate conversations of the urban Buenos Aires and sprawling Argentina.

Keeping Caribbean music alive is at the heart of Jibaro Con Tumbao with a repertoire of tropical music consisting of son, guajira, cha-cha, bolero, and more. Besides entertaining crowds, the group loves to educate on the jandra and its origins.
Krudxs Cubensi
with Interminable

Dubbed “one of the best hip-hop crews in Austin” Krudxs Cubensi combines fierce feminist rebel lyrics & Afro-Cuban sounds. They have self-organized more than twenty national and international tours, produced more than eight independent albums, produced, directed and starred in more than thirty music and art videos, and collaborated with more than three hundred artists and activists on projects around the world. They are joined by Philly-based futuristic fusion project Interminable explores the modern diasporic experience, with covers and originals both in English and Spanish.

Taína Asili is a New York-based Puerto Rican singer, composer, and activist carrying on the tradition of her ancestors, fusing past and present struggles into one soulful and defiant voice. Asili’s Afro-Latin fusion songs of love and liberation have inspired audiences at venues across the globe – From the Women’s March on Washington to Carnegie Hall to the main stage of San Francisco Pride.

Guachinangos is a band formed in Philadelphia and based in New York. With members from different backgrounds, they fuse and interpret genres such as Cumbias, Boleros, and Son Jarocho, traditional music from the state of Veracruz, Mexico.

Dubbed “the one” by George Clinton, Afro-Cuban star Cimafunk’s 2021 album El Alimento received overwhelming praise from Rolling Stone & NPR Music.
