Philly Rising Open Mic
World Cafe Live is partnering with local movers & shakers REC Philly to bring you an evening of musical collaboration, inspiration, and networking. The first Tuesday of each month, we’ll welcome performers from every genre to step up to the mic. Whether you’re an artist, a supporter, an industry professional, or just a music lover – Philly Rising Open Mic is the place to be! Admission is FREE and all ages are welcome.

Performers will be selected by lottery throughout the evening. Please check in with the host beginning at 6pm to enter your name, walk-up submissions only. Each performer is allowed 2-3 songs, or a maximum of 10 minutes.


Trey Coachman, a multifaceted artist hailing from Michigan but entrenched in the vibrant Philadelphia music scene. With 11 projects under his belt and more in the works, Trey is a saxophonist, rapper, and songwriter who has captivated audiences across the city and beyond. He found his musical home through summer jam sessions, open mics, and rap cyphers after poetry shows, carving his own path into the fabric of Philadelphia's cultural landscape. From intimate venues like Chris’ Jazz Club supporting Hudson River, to iconic live music spots like Time and W Hotel Longe, Trey's performances have left audiences in groovy spirits with his unique blend of saxophone melodies and compelling lyrics. He's graced the stage at WXPN for AprilFoolChild's studio session and shared his talent at the SMS Poetry Summit. Trey's accolades speak volumes about his talent and dedication. In 2023, he placed 3rd in the World and 1st in the USA at the World of Dance competition as a member of Creative Reaction Dance Company, showcasing his versatility as a performer. Additionally, he's been recognized for his artistic endeavors with grants such as the Black Music City Grant and the Illuminate The Arts Grant in 2023 and 2022 respectively.
